Words of Wisdom #13

"An intimate relationship does not banish loneliness. Only when we are comfortable with who we are can we truly function independently in a healthy way, can we truly function within a relationship. Two halves do not make a whole when it comes to a healthy relationship: it takes two wholes."

- Patricia Fry

Post Secret #15

via Post Secret
I too backpacked throughout Europe solo during my year abroad. It was the most freeing thing I could have ever done. Backpacking showed me how I'm not alone and really surrounded by loving people that care for me, even if they weren't with me in person. After I got back I struggled a lot with this feeling of being alone and uncared for. Until recently I still felt this way, but its getting better. I'm realizing how I'm not alone, but life gets in the way of communicating sometimes. I refuse to let this feeling get to me. I will not let it plague and consume my thoughts. I am not alone as I believe to be.

Thankful Thursday

Thanksgiving is among us and y'all know what that means! The start of the holiday season. This year I'm opting for giving books instead of clothing or other random items, and for a select few practical items. But I'm getting off topic here. Here are a few things I am thankful for this year:

My family. Despite our ups and downs I love them to death. They all bring a smile to my face. My sisters are the best! My brothers are quirky and dorky, as brothers should be. My nephew cracks me up every time I see him. He also teaches me a lot about myself and others. My parents will be my parents, and I am grateful for how they raised me. Turns out I'm not that half bad.

My girls. We may all be separated by time zones, states, even continents, but somehow we still manage to support each other via text, email, phone calls, FB, etc. Thank you for helping me get through a rough patch or two. :)

My BFF. We have been through thick and thin. There has been times when I've had very close feelings to hate towards this person, but he is my better half. We may not be together now, but he has helped me through a lot. And for this I'm thankful. He has truly been a blessing in my life.

New friends, old acquaintances. Its amazing what they can do for you. Thank you for the late nights, chats, food runs, movie nights, shows, and helping me laugh at myself or at you at some point or another. :)

My life. I may moan, complain, and sometimes even whine about my life, but overall its not that bad. Sure things may not go as planned, but that's life for you. I have had some amazing opportunities to travel across Europe, live in Spain & DC, work on the East Coast, and meet some inspiring/incredible people. I have a nice job, a car that functions, a full belly, and my books. Sure I may not have my own apartment, but life could be sooo much worse than it is now.

Books. Yes, my books. Thank you for helping me cope with some pretty bad life experiences. Thank you for helping me understand myself better. Thank you for helping me reconcile who I am and where I come from. Without you, I don't know where I'd be!

Words of Wisdom #12

"That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you're not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong."

 - F. Scott Fitzgerald

For those that wonder why I read voraciously, this is one of the reasons why. I may not always connect with those around me, but at the very least I connect with the authors I read. Those who I have connected with and shared some of my most intimate details of my life you are truly blessed to have heard those words leave my mouth.

Because when I was little I used to think if you swung high enough on the swing it could make you fly. Oh how I tried. Childhood innocence at its best!

Music Monday #11

One of my all time favorite songs ever. It also makes me nostalgic for the Mexico of my parents past. And in a way, the Mexico I learned to love at a very young age. Have an awesome week!

Post Secret #13

As an undergrad I was guilty of this, hehe. Being back East for school really did make me lazy during the winter. :)

Currently coveting

I haven't done one of these in a minute. :)

I stumbled across a pair of boots that literally took my breath away and reminded me of where I came from and what I liked back in high school. Granted, a lot of things I like in high school I still like now. :)

But, these boots are to die for! I might actually get them. I think they'd serve a double purpose: rain boots and just plain ol' boots. When I was younger I wanted a pair of Dr. Marten's soooooo badly!!!! But alas, as an unemployed teenager these never materialized. Sadly, my mother did not think they were a good fit for me, too bad the joke is on her now. Maybe I'll skip out on my dye job and opt in for these babies instead!!!

Fill in the Blank Friday #11

1.   My favorite new blog of the moment is    Wendy's Lookbook  .

2.   Something I am thankful for is   my amazing group of girl friends. We can go weeks without chatting but we can pick right up from where we left off      .

3.  Something that made me laugh this week was    a little boy on the train. He kept staring at me, but as soon as I turned to look at him he would look away. We played that game for ohhh about 10 minutes   .

4. An item that is currently on my wish list is    a pair of cognac Melissa Button Frye boots   .

5.  I am excited about    the Bad Religion, TSOL, and Youth Brigade show next month :) .

6.  If I were a color I would be    crimson .

7.  My favorite way to spend a chilly fall day is by    drinking a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and hanging out with a friend  .

Happy list #6

Last week due to my own lack of strategic planning I forgot to write a happy list up. But it was okay to skip a few days of blogging, it reminded me that I need stop trying to capture everything and just live my life and go with the flow of things. And lately, that's exactly what I've been doing!

Music Monday #10

I had the honor this past Friday to see City & Colour live at the Fox Theater with a great group of friends! Glad I went and got to experience City & Colour in person and for myself. Part of my journey is to try new things and get myself out there. I believe I'm on that path.

Happy Monday y'all!

Post Secret #12

via Post Secret
I hide my size 36C breasts pretty damn well, but every now and then they are slightly brought out in public. And to be quite honest, I love them and they are one of my favorite parts of my body. So yes, I like to stare and look at my own cleavage. :)

Its Sunday again! Let's get this week started correctly!

Whirlwind week

Every now and then I feel like life picks up the pace and my week slips by faster than I can even imagine. This past week was one of those weeks. And for once, I'm totally okay with it. I got to hang a few times with one of my favorite people ever. Ran a 5K race with my HS bff. Took a spontaneous decision and went to go see City and Colour live with a great group of people. I had a great time, laughed a ton, ate some delish In-n-Out, had a glass of Shock Top, and stopped thinking for once. This is a huge step for me: to stop thinking and just feel. I was fortunate to see Mr. Victor VillaseƱor in person speak at Vroman's about his new book. Bought said new book. Bought 2 new amazing CDs at Amoeba. Overall a great week. Too bad it went by quickly. Let's see what the following week has in store for me.

Fill in the Blank Friday #10

1.   My favorite thing about this week was/is     discovering an Italian food truck!!!! And drinking a San Pellegrino Arcianta :)  .

2.   Colder weather makes me   want to cozy up with someone under the covers, drink hot chocolate, and watch movies     .

3.  Three things that make me terribly happy as of late are    my job, my friends, and realizing that I'm not really such a prude after all   .

4. If I could only wear one kind of shoe for the rest of my life, I'd choose    ballet flats. They're versatile - you can dress them up or down (I totally agree with Lauren!!)   .

5.  My personality type is    not sure at all :/ .

6.  I have a serious problem resisting     chocolate!!! Especially dark chocolate with hazelnuts!!!   .

7.  My favorite color to wear is    pink, grey, yellow, red, blues :)  .

M.I.A.

I know I've been a bit MIA as of late. I promise I'll have more stuff in the next few days. I just started a new job and I'm still adjusting to my commute/work load and just plain ol' life.

Have a great Thursday y'all! :)
